Nature lover? Venture into the Po Delta Park!

A place of untouched nature

The Po Delta Park was founded in 1988 and, in a short time, is included in the system of protected areas of Emilia Romagna.

The area extends around the southern part of the delta of the river Po, starting from the Veneto to the coastal areas of the province of Ferrara and Ravenna: a very vast territory, which connects the green hills of the hinterland to the suggestions of the Adriatic coast.

Near the beaches of Ferrara, there are many places that are worth at least a visit.

Among these, the Po Delta Park is, without a doubt, one of the most fascinating: an immense uncontaminated territory, known for its evocative views and for the extraordinary wealth of flora and fauna, which gives refuge to many plant species, native animals and poultry, observable depending on the time of year.

Excursions to the Po Delta Park

During the spring and summer months, there are regular excursions and walks along the Po Delta Park, with increasing difficulty depending on the chosen route. If you are not experienced, however, do not worry: you can still venture into this extraordinary place and spend a day outdoors, surrounded by lush vegetation and immersed in peace and silence.

Taking a hike in the park is quite simple. Staying in a farmhouse at the Ferrara beaches, for example, you can reach, in a few minutes by car, various access points, where, often, you collect groups departing for a walk. And, at the end of the day, you can quickly return to the hotel, to enjoy dinner and... your deserved relaxation!

The equipment to take with you

An excursion to the Po Delta Park is an unforgettable experience. However, to make the day even more enjoyable, it is good to leave as equipped as possible. What do you need to bring?

First of all, we must focus on clothing suitable for the time of year, preferably 'layered' in order to be able, if necessary, to undress or cover. Shoes should also be chosen with care: closed, like those for trekking, and comfortable, to always have the right stability, even in the steepest points.

Taking a packed lunch with you is, then, essential to be able to refresh along the way. Sandwiches, a canteen with fresh water, a snack to make the load of energy and a juice will be fine. Remember, however, to bring with you any paper, so as not to pollute the places.

If you are fond of photography or bird-watching, you can add to your equipment a camera not too bulky and a small binoculars, to take some souvenir photos of the Po Delta Park and observe, at a distance, the different species of birds... and not only.

Where to eat and sleep at the beaches of Ferrara and surroundings?

To visit the Po Delta Park in comfort, you have before you various options.

There are many hotels and bed and breakfasts located in the historic center, which will allow you to fully experience the city atmosphere with its museums and monuments. Or you can choose a relaxing stay at the farm Il Dosso, ideal for a family vacation or a romantic getaway for two, during which you can immerse yourself in the flavors and beauty of the area.
